No, no I most certainly am not writing this blog as means of procrastination from work, how dare you accuse me of such a thing! I was realising that I've gone far too long without posting anything, so in an attempt to get back into the swing of things (which just so happens to prevent me from working!) I am writing this for you lovely blog-loving people. Hurray.
Spring has finally arrived at the UK in all it's bird-chirping, April-raining glory, and I'm taking advantage of the sun appearing to do some work in the garden. Don't you feel special that I'm talking to you? Of course you do, because you lot are fantastic. I love days like this; when it's not so blisteringly hot that you're skin burns at the very contact of sunlight, but warm enough that your toes don't freeze into little toe-flavoured ice lollies. Aren't you glad I painted that mental image for you?
On another note, the new series of Doctor Who has started! This is a source of major excitement for me, because as anyone who knows me well enough will happily inform you that I'm a nerd of the highest calibur. And Doctor Who viewing falls into this category. Now, even if you're not as avid a fan as I am, you'll probably be aware that we have a new Doctor in our midst, the charming Matt Smith! There has been some controversy regarding this recent switch of actors, and I'd like to address it now in the following short rant.
Stop complaining and just enjoy the bloody show!
Cool. Seriously though, I'm getting fed up with hearing people pining over David Tennant; now I'll be the first to admit I loved the guy, he was a fantastic actor, played the role brilliantly and wasn't too hard on the eyes either. But he chose to leave, and fair enough to him, so don't be angry at the show for his decision. The man has a right to pursue other career prospects, and I wish him the best of luck. He was certainly one of the best Doctors, but I'd love to see what else he can do. Which brings me to Matt Smith; we're only one episode in, but I love his style. Some people claim he's just copying Tennant (while also complaining that Tennant isn't there...right). I beg to differ; he's similar in some ways yes, which has helped eased the transition for me at least, but uniquely different in so many other ways that makes his character refreshing and original.
And it's funny how short people's memories are, because when Christopher Eccleston left after just one series as the 9th Doctor, people made exactly the same arguments. And I'll once again admit, I was sad to see him go and a bit annoyed, but once I saw how talented David Tennant was I warmed to him, while still loving the episodes we had of Eccleston. I'm sure if people stop being so closed-minded they will come to feel the same about Matt Smith. By all means continue to enjoy all the fantastic episodes we have of David Tennant, they're still on DVD and played on TV regularly! But let the new guy have a go, and don't hate him just because he's not David Tennant.
Besides, Matt Smith has some of the best lines ever thanks to wonderful writing from Moffat! "You're Scottish, fry something." So there. Your wonderful thought today can be that it's nearly summer, and nicer weather will soon be upon us more regularly!

Nearly summer no kidding. I got a sunburn two days ago! By the way, it's calibre, Mr. English-major-man.
I agree . . . Matt Smith is doing a great job even after one episode. I was a bit skeptical after the finale only because David Tennant was the only Doctor I've really know so far. However, I have gone back to watch some of Christopher Eccleston's episodes and especially when 9th Doctor changed into 10th . . . too bad people don't think within the story. . . I mean, if you were just reborn into a new personality and still relearning stuff (like you're new favorite foods lol) then you might try to cling to the old personality while you get used to the new one. Matt Smith really comes into his own Doctor throughout the episode and ESPECIALLY after he puts on HIS own costume and gets rid of the "raggity Doctor" .. . . and I love his great one liners :) "I hate yogurt, its just stuff with bits in it!" LOL :D
