I'm just going to say in advance that this post will be football related, so if this doesn't interest you then don't read it! Just to let you know! :)
Right then. As you may or may not know, the England football team are bunch of overpaid, underachieving morons when it comes to World Cup football. I realise everyone is saying it, but it's true. As I'm writing this the game is technically still being played, but I couldn't bear to look as Germany scored another goal bringing it to 4-1. Okay, now everyone has bad days, fair enough. But for the whole tournament? We have played dreadfully right from the beginning. To be honest, I could accept that we were awful, if it wasn't for a little thing that seems to make the world go round.
Money.
The England team are comprised of players from the Premiership, arguably one of the best football leagues in the world and displaying some absolutely fantastic talent. Now I'm not really a football enthusiast, but even I know this. These players receive ridiculously high salaries, most earning upwards of £100,000 a WEEK. That is an extremely high amount for a year, let alone a fucking week. I mean I'm fine with them getting payed to play this sport professionally, to be the best they don't have the time for another job, that's fine, but do they really deserve this much money for kicking a ball around?
Back to the England problem, I'm quite honestly stumped: how do players that earn so much money, and play pretty damn well when they're being paid for it suddenly become awful when it comes to playing for England? I mean, I just cannot understand it. I cannot understand it! Argh. Sorry, I know it is just a game, and I'd be fine if it weren't for the insane amounts of cash these guys get for doing a job that apparantly I could do better.
I don't suppose it helps that because they earn so much, the Premiership attracts players from other nations; which is great, it brings other cultures and other ideas into the country, which is always a brilliant idea. However, because of the aforementioned ridiculous sums of money being offered, these days it seems that the number of English players is getting fewer and fewer, and coaches are having less to choose from. And they won't even bring in the suggested rule of having a minimum amount of native players, which seems like a good idea to me. Everything is about the fucking money.
Again I apologise; I just hate how all most people seem to care about is money. And people wonder why I'm a socialist. Really sorry if this wasn't your cup of tea folks, I'll try and have something more interesting and funnier next week, but I'm very angry about this issue right now, and it was this or nothing - I'm determined to update every week, even if it's a rant!
So apologies, I'll get thinking straight away on something suitably rib-tickling for next week. And if it makes you feel better, you can't be feeling worse than the England squad right about now.
Have a good week everyone!
