Which Doctor? Doctor what sorry? Who?

See what I did there, blog fans?

Quite frankly, it doesn't get much better than this. And as another week draws to a close, I find myself feeling like there is something vital missing from my life, as if I've left the house without my favourite fez but haven't quite noticed it yet. Because I wear a fez now, fez's are cool.

And of course, the dawning realisation has just hit me, like someone has just shot my favourite the fez with a silly little laser gun. It is of course, the absence of Doctor Who this week!

It's just felt so natural these past couple of months to have an episode of Doctor Who to look forward to on a Saturday, that after the series finale last week it just didn't quite register that there wouldn't be another one coming. I mean obviously I knew there wasn't going to be another one, I'm not completely thick, I do have good taste in fez's after all! But after having my weekly dose from the Doctor for a while I had aquired the taste again, and now I'm left reeling with the withdrawel symptons. Damn you, Doctor...

I'm going to outright say it now: I'm a Doctor Who nerd, plain and simple. Not quite to the point of stalking various interenet forums ravenously for any leftover scraps Moffat has tossed to the wilds (I'm looking at you, Abbie), but I love it quite a lot. Enough to advocate the awesomeness that is the fez. I'll admit, I watched the odd old episode as a child, and occaisonally when they brought it back with Christopher Eccelston, but I never properly got into it until the David Tennant era.

However, since then I've watched ever single episode of the new series', all the specials, the 1996 film and even gone back and watched a lot of the old episodes. I'm that cool (see previous fez-related comments!). And while they haven't aged terribly well, I still love watching Tom Baker with his excellent taste in scarves, or Peter Davidson and his apparant love for vegetable-themed cricket uniforms. Basically the point I'm trying to get at is...I quite like the Doctor.

Therefore, I feel I'm entitled to have an opinion on the matter because I'm far geekier than you! Do you have a fez? I thought not, but it's okay, you can still get one, we'll wait. Try Amazon. Got a fez now, and are you sitting comfortably? Excellent.

I won't go into huge detail here, as I'm far too busy wishing I actually owned a real fez, and wondering if Amazon does indeed sell them (after a quick search, it turns out they do). But all in all, I'm quite pleased with the most recent series of Doctor Who. Granted, it had a few episodes that weren't quite up to scratch, but it's like any family; thtere's always the one that isn't very interesting, the one that tries to be too clever and the one that just cries. Otherwise, the series was a triumph! Personally, while I feel there is still plenty of room for development of serious segments, Matt Smith brings his own unique quirkiness to the Doctor. He has brilliant comic timing, and is just downright amusing to watch. Karen Gillan is quite honestly my favourite assisant so far, and sex on legs.

I most definitely would.

Finally, last but not least Stephen Moffat's writing is absolutely fantastic, and while I loved Russel T. Davis, towards the end he tended to repeat a lot of ideas and pretty much wank over his own writing (as great as it was), so it's nice to have a change. Personally I love that Moffat has brought a slightly darker touch to the series, making it a lot more entertaining to watch.

I think that's all from me, and I made it in time, yes. But before I go, the thought I'll leave you with this time will take the form of proof that we will all soon be sporting wonderful fez's as pictured by Larry here:

Stay classy, San Diego.
